Former Democratic Senator Bill Nelson nominated by Joe Biden to head NASA

The White House announced Friday that US President Joe Biden was tapping former Florida Democratic MLA Bill Nelson, who once boarded the space shuttle. And helped formulate space law as head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The nomination seems to verify Biden's interest in maintaining United States of America leadership in space as NASA prepares to return to the Moon under the Artemis program, whereas pivoting towards business partnerships for missions in low-Earth orbit.

Biden has conjointly signaled that global climate change analysis is a top priority for the agency.

If confirmed, Nelson would succeed Jim Bridenstine, a former administrator elected by former President Donald Trump, who resigned on January 20.

When he was a Republican member of the House of Commons, Brydenstein's candidacy was met with deep skepticism as a result of his controversial political positions, including opposing scientific consensus on global climate change.
